Three Fun Facts
- I love all things Black feminisms and Hip Hop Feminisms! Exploring the intersections of Blackness, popular culture, identity/self-making and health is the crux of my research interests and personal healing!
- I lead a physically and artistically active lifestyle; if I am not painting, writing poetry, playing guitar or singing, you will find me lifting in the gym, getting centered with my yoga and contortion practice, riding my longboard around the city, and hiking everywhere that looks like it’s got a trail!
- I have am a collector of art, records and tattoo’s! My home and heart lives and breaths all things arts and music.

What are some of the things you have started working on in your new role? And what are some of the areas you are looking forward to exploring?
So far, I have been focused on relationship building with the CTLT team, leveraging everyone’s phenomenal institutional history and knowledge and familiarizing myself with the projects and programming that I will be collaborating and working on. I will be working on developing programming, priorities, and projects for the upcoming year, for the ARTL program and look forward to exploring interdisciplinary and collaborative projects. Throughout my academic, professional, and personal pursuits, I have always attempted to find a way to integrate arts-based, queer, crip, global south, and inclusive pedagogical practices into my work, and so I am excited to explore these avenues within my role as an educational consultant.
I also looked forward to contributing to the ongoing space making for IBPOC staff/faculty and students within the realm of teaching and learning as I have always been passionate about building communities and connecting, often siloed and marginalized identities within academia. One tangible contribution towards this is the planning I am about to take on, for the CTLT Summer Institute; focused on building connections of IBPOC new faculty and introductory discussions on Anti-Racist teaching and learning! More to come in regards to promotions on this event, so please keep checking back to our page for more details!
I can’t wait to delve in and connect further with the UBC community!
What excited you about joining this team?
What excited me most about joining the team and engaging in collaborative work is the diverse and different positionalities, ideologies and scholarship that all the members of CTLT bring to their work, including their own personal passion projects and skill sets. Our team is vast in pedagogical scholarship, writing and artistic abilities, communication and web design, social justice work and I am excited to think through ways we can combine our skills to develop scholarly, creative, innovative, and progressive programming, projects and resources. In my new role as Educational Consultant, I am passionate about creating cutting-edge resources that are grounded and reflective of the needs of the community, and I have full confidence that working alongside this amazing team, will help me identify and leverage new and existing skills of my own! Let’s go CTLT!!
